Accessibility & Inclusivity Information

English / Deutsch

We are trying our best to be an accessible and inclusive event while of course having various restraints in terms of budget and general feasibility.

Therefore below you can find a list of all accessible and inclusive features we can (and unfortunately cannot) provide.

If we missed anything, or if you have any further questions, please contact us.

Conference Venue | Afterparty Venue | Contributor Day Venue

Conference Venue

Assistance Animals

Guide and assistance dogs are welcome at the conference venue. (Explicitly allowed at the university according to the house rules.)

Closest Public Transport Stations

The closest station to the venue is “Lange Gasse” served by Tram lines 5, 33, 43, 44.

To plan your trip you can use the Journey Planer of the Wiener Linien, Viennas public transport operator. In any case: As only some cars of the tram are wheelchair accessible maybe plan some extra time as you might need to skip one or two trains to get one of those.

Disabled Parking

There are various designated parking spots close to the venue. In addition all short-term parking spots in Vienna are free for an unlimited time period for people with a handicapped ID.

For general information on (disabled) parking please refer to the official website of the City of Vienna (German only) on the topic where you can also find a map of parking lots and garages close to the venue.

The parking spots closest to the venue are the following:

  • Spitalgasse 2, 1090 Vienna
  • Garnisongasse 13, 1090 Vienna

There is also a parking garage close by at Otto Wagnerplatz.

Diversity tickets

In our pursuit to make WordCamp Vienna a friendly and welcoming event for everyone we’re offering 10 free diversity tickets. More information for these tickets will be announced soon.

Free carer tickets

A helper or carer is welcome to accompany a paying disabled visitor without charge. Please feel free to book a standard ticket online and then contact us and we will provide the free carer ticket upon your arrival at the registration desk.

Hearing Loops

Lecture Hall C1 and C2 (Hörsaal C1 and C2) are equipped with Audio Induction Loops. Reception should be best in the front and on the sides.

Even though everything should be in place and working: To ensure flawless operations please contact us in advance or at least mention this at registration. This is so we can check that everything is working as intended as nobody in the team currently has any personal experience with using the infrastructure.

Quiet Room / Lactation Room

There are some (limited) quiet corners inside and outside (if weather permits) the venue. Beyond that we unfortunately currently don’t have any designated rooms for those purposes available.

Please contact us anyway, so we might be able to arrange something nevertheless.

Special Dietary Requirements

We’ll be supplying Vegetarian, Gluten-free and Vegan options. Please make sure to check your requirements during the ticket purchase process so we can plan accordingly.

If you have any special needs beyond that you are welcome to bring your own food or contact us so we can see what we can do.

Speech to Text Reporters (STTRs)

Unfortunately due to budgetary restraints we are not able to provide live captioning for the presentations. We’re sorry about this.

Wheelchair Access

The Campus of the University of Vienna – Altes AKH is largely accessible to persons with disabilities. For it is a university campus with auditoriums, institutes and eateries there are several accessible toilets as well, but you might need an Eurokey.

Hörsaal C1 is at ground floor level, furnished with ascending bench rows. Hörsaal C2 can be found at floor B. Barrier-free access for wheelchair users is possible via a fire door.

Also all rooms where food and drinks will be served and all hallways in between (where sponsor booths are located and people can hang out to socialize) are wheelchair accessible.

Afterparty

The Afterparty location, Stiegl Ambulanz, is just a few minutes walk away from the Conference Venue still inside the Campus of the University of Vienna – Altes AKH.

Stiegl Ambulanz has no steps, a barrier-free toilet and Guide dogs are allowed.

Food & Drinks

As part of your ticket you’ll receive one free drink (beer or non alcoholic beverage). While there are some vegetarian food options available, please be aware that due to the traditional Austrian cuisine choices are limited.

Contributor Day

On the day after the main conference we’ll meet again for the contributor day. We’ll have multiple contribution teams lead by experienced contributors as well as some workshops.

The information and the location for the contributors day have not yet been determined, more details will be available soon.

To plan your trip you can use the Journey Planer of the Wiener Linien, Viennas public transport operator.
